Salvation is a sci-fi opera triptych composed by Noah K in collaboration with screenwriter Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner, Blade Runner 2049) who wrote the story and libretto. A workshop staging of the second act of Salvation—The Fall of Zalam—at Princeton University marks the first phase of production development. Mark DeChiazza directs the production with Jayce Ogren as music director.
Noah K is a composer and saxophonist from Topanga Canyon, CA. His music has been performed by the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, JACK Quartet, So Percussion and many others in venues including (Le) Poisson Rouge, Seiji Ozawa Hall, and the Stone. He co-leads the dream pop band Dollshot and has recorded two albums for the Swiss jazz label HatHut Records, Descendants (2011) and Cluster Swerve (2017). He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Music Composition at Princeton University where he is a Harold W. Dodds Honorific Fellow. He lives in Brooklyn.
Hampton Fancher is a screenwriter, director, and former actor. Among his many credits, he wrote the screenplays for Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049 , as well as The Mighty Quinn and The Minus Man , the latter of which he also directed. Described by Forbes as a "creative genius" and the Los Angeles Times as a "world-class raconteur," Fancher was recently the subject of the highly praised documentary Escapes .
Jayce Ogren has conducted symphonic concerts, opera productions, and cutting-edge new music projects throughout the world. In recent seasons he has appeared with the New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, BBC Symphony, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Canadian Opera Company and Ensemble Intercontemporain, among others. A devoted educator, he served as Visiting Lecturer at Princeton University’s Lewis Center for the Arts during the 2017-2018 academic year, and has worked with student musicians at the Juilliard School, Music Academy of the West and Brevard Music Center. From 2006-2009, Mr. Ogren served as Assistant Conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra. He currently lives in Brooklyn, NY with his wife, Carly, and their son, Alistair.
