Set, Installation Design, and Custom Fabrication: Mark DeChiazza
An installation event in fashion label pas de calais' flagship Soho store again required a set custom designed to integrate with the architecture of the space. For the second time, DeChiazza designed and created the necessary infrastructure to build the set for the event, hiring a complete team of collaborators and overseeing all aspects— from lighting, to projection, to arrangement and rigging of sixteen hand-crafted suspended dress-forms displaying designer Yukari Suda's AW15 collection.
DeChiazza's team re-made the emptied main floor of pas de calais' store Broome Street store, installing window treatments and a giant loom of black yarn and ebony viola keys suspended, suspending a 40 foot black cotton cloud of suspended fiber. Artist Nora Renaud's plaster-filigree busts were hung throughout the space to create an interactive space to provide a tactile experience of the clothing.
